D Wittchow Recalled; 3 Assigned to Monarchs
Springfield, MA - The Springfield Thunderbirds announced four roster transactions on Thursday afternoon, recalling defenseman Eddie Wittchow from the ECHL's Manchester Monarchs while assigning three players back to Manchester: forwards Dryden Hunt and Tim Bozon, as well as defenseman Thomas Schemitsch.
Wittchow, 24, has skated in 13 games with the Thunderbirds and 12 games with the Monarchs in this, his first professional season. With the Monarchs, Wittchow tallied a goal and seven assists in 12 games while managing a +10 rating. the Burnsville, Minn. native and alumnus of the University of Wisconsin has one assist and 24 penalty minutes with Springfield this season.
Hunt, 21, has five goals and seven assists in 39 games of his rookie season in Springfield. The undrafted winger won the WHL's Four Broncos Trophy in 2015-16 as the league's player of the year, scoring 58 goals and adding 58 assists with the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Bozon, 22, has recorded seven goals and seven assists with the Thunderbirds in 36 games played since being acquired from the Montreal Canadiens' organization prior to the start of the 2016-17 season.
Schemitsch, 20, has recorded two assists in 21 games of his rookie campaign in Springfield. He also has two assists in seven games with the Monarchs.
Fresh off the AHL All-Star Classic break, the Thunderbirds are back to game action on Friday, Feb. 3 in Providence against the Bruins. From there, Springfield will visit Bridgeport on Sat., Feb. 4 and Tues., Feb. 7 for back-to-back matchups with the Sound Tigers. All three road games will face off shortly after 7:00 p.m. ET.
The Thunderbirds are back on MassMutual Center ice on Friday, Feb. 10 as Ric Flair makes a visit to Springfield for "Throwback Night" with a piece of Flair. Flair's special appearance, presented by Big Y and Lia Auto Group.
