D Wittchow Signs AHL One-Way Contract
Springfield, MA - The Florida Panthers and Springfield Thunderbirds have announced the signing of defenseman Ed Wittchow to an AHL one-way contract.
Originally a sixth-round selection of the Panthers in the 2011 NHL Draft, the 24-year-old Wittchow completed his first professional season in 2016-17.
In 38 games with the Thunderbirds last season, Wittchow scored two goals and added two assists while compiling 58 penalty minutes.
A native of Burnsville, Minn., the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Wittchow is an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin, where he served as a captain in his senior season in 2015-16.
Wittchow joins fellow defenseman Matt MacKenzie, goaltender Evan Cowley, and forwards Anthony Greco, Matt Buckles, Ryan Horvat, and Francois Beauchemin as players who have agreed to AHL one-way contracts with the organization this month.
