Panthers Recall McCoshen, Weegar
SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations Dale Tallon announced today that the Panthers have recalled defensemen Ian McCoshen and MacKenzie Weegar from the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
McCoshen, 21, has recorded 16 points (4-12-16) and appeared in 65 games during his first professional season with Springfield. Prior to his time with the Thunderbirds, he played three seasons for Boston College (2013-16), appearing in 110 games and registering 50 points (17-33-50).
The 6-foot-3, 217-pound native of Hudson, Wis., was originally selected by the Panthers in the second round (31st overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
Weegar, 23, leads Springfield's defensemen with 13 goals and 32 points in 57 games. This season, the 6-foot, 212-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario became the first Thunderbirds player in franchise history to represent the club at the AHL All-Star Classic.
He was originally selected by the Panthers in the seventh round (206th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
