Panthers Recall G Berra; T-Birds Recall G Brittain
Sunrise, FL- Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations Dale Tallon announced today that the Panthers have recalled goaltender Reto Berra on an emergency basis from the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
In a subsequent move, the Thunderbirds recalled goaltender Sam Brittain from the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL.
Berra, 30, has posted a 12-14-2 record with a 2.53 goals against average, a .910 save percentage and three shutouts with Springfield.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound native of Bulach, Switzerland has played in 64 NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche (2014-16) and Calgary Flames (2013-14), amassing a 19-30-4 record with a 2.82 goals against average, .906 save percentage and three shutouts. He was originally selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft.
Brittain, 24, has posted a 20-9-1 record for Manchester, recording a 3.28 goals against average and .896 save percentage. He won his lone start with the Thunderbirds, making 24 saves in a 2-1 overtime win against the Utica Comets on Jan. 25.
Brittain was selected originally by the Panthers in the fourth round (92nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
