T-Birds Announce 14th & 15th Sellouts of Season This Weekend
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Springfield Thunderbirds announced today that they have sold out the final two regular season home games this Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15 at the MassMutual Center. The two capacity crowds bring the franchise's total to a single-season record 15 sold-out dates at the MassMutual Center.
With these sellouts, the Thunderbirds finish the regular season with a team-record attendance average of 6,162, which equates to a 91% capacity per game. The 15 sellouts in 36 regular season games is also a new Thunderbirds team record. Springfield will have hosted a sellout in each of their final five home games this season, as well as every Saturday night date going back to December 30.
"We truly have some of the best fans in the American Hockey League," said Thunderbirds President Nathan Costa. "To be able to sell out 15 games in a single season, as well as every Saturday game after the Christmas holiday, is remarkable. It is a testament not just to the hard work of our front office staff, but to the passionate fans who bring the noise day in and day out to make the Thunderdome one of the toughest rinks for visiting teams in the league."
The weekend begins with a battle between the T-Birds and the Providence Bruins on Friday night, with puck drop set for 7:05 p.m. at the Thunderdome. Springfield will be sporting their blue third jerseys one final time, and the first 1,000 kids aged 12 and under will receive a special edition Thunderbirds youth hockey jersey, compliments of Springfield Pharmacy.
The Friday festivities remain in place as well, as fans can arrive at 6:00 p.m. for the MGM Springfield Pregame Concert Series as part of Deuces Wild Friday. Through the end of the first period, Coors Light drafts, hot dogs, and sodas will all be sold for just $2 each.
On Saturday, the Thunderbirds welcome their I-91 rivals from Hartford for one final tangle between the T-Birds and Wolf Pack. Prior to another 7:05 p.m. puck drop, fans in attendance will have the opportunity to meet Jim O'Heir of the hit comedy series "Parks and Recreation," as "Jerry" will host a meet-and-greet on the concourse at 6:00 p.m.
Fans who purchased VIP Meet and Greet tickets will have the chance to get an exclusive experience with O'Heir beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Breakaway Lounge on the MassMutual Center concourse. More details on the night will be shared via email and online at www.SpringfieldThunderbirds.com.
