T-Birds Announce Recalls from Manchester (ECHL)
Springfield, MA – The Springfield Thunderbirds announced today a pair of roster moves, recalling a pair of players from the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL.
First, the Thunderbirds announced the recall of forward Francois Beauchemin from the Monarchs. Beauchemin, 21, has skated in five professional games - three for Manchester and two for Springfield, recording four penalty minutes. He finished his junior career in the QMJHL last season with a 97-point season, including 45 goals, with the Val d'Or Foreurs and Charlottetown Islanders.
In a separate transaction, the Thunderbirds announced that they have signed forward Tony Turgeon to a professional try-out. The 6-foot-4, 231-pound Turgeon has skated in eight games for Manchester this year, scoring a goal and adding 24 penalty minutes. He scored two goals in 12 games for Springfield in 2016-17, both in the same game against Providence on April 1.
Springfield is next on home ice this Saturday, Nov. 11 for David Ortiz Night as the Thunderbirds host the Laval Rocket at 7:05. From there, the Thunderbirds will host the Providence Bruins on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3:05 p.m. to round out their busy week.
