The Springfield Thunderbirds continue their push toward a second consecutive berth in the Calder Cup Playoffs. With five games remaining in the regular season, Springfield's magic number to clinch a berth sits at 4 points. That number will decrease for every point the T-Birds earn in the standings, as well as each point the Lehigh Valley Phantoms fail to register. 

That makes this Wednesday's contest against Lehigh Valley the simplest scenario yet for the T-Birds to punch their ticket to the Calder Cup Playoffs for a second straight year:

If Springfield were to win in overtime or a shootout on Wednesday, their magic number would sit at 1 heading into their final two games of the season against the Hartford Wolf Pack; the remaining schedule is as follows:

• Wednesday, April 15 vs. LV, 7:05 p.m.
• Friday, April 17 @ HFD, 7:00 p.m.
• Saturday, April 18 vs. HFD, 6:05 p.m.

If the Calder Cup Playoffs began today, the (6) seeded Thunderbirds would face the (3) seeded Charlotte Checkers in the best-of-3 First Round series.
