T-Birds Recall F Diamond from Manchester (ECHL)
Springfield, MA– The Springfield Thunderbirds announced on Monday that they have recalled forward Joe Diamond from the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL.
The 27-year-old Diamond has been a reliable scorer for Manchester, recording 11 goals to go along with 11 assists in 19 games this season. He has also shown an edge to his game, resulting in 46 penalty minutes.
The University of Maine alumnus is coming off of his first 20-goal season as a pro in 2015-16 with the Monarchs, in which he scored 20 and added 29 assists in 56 games. While skating at the collegiate level with the Black Bears, Diamond recorded 25 goals and 47 points to go along with 117 penalty minutes in his junior season of 2011-12.
Diamond has AHL experience on his resume as well, having spent 47 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers from 2012-2014. He has 9 goals, 8 assists, and 103 penalty minutes to show for his AHL career.
Diamond and the Thunderbirds take to the ice next on Wednesday night for another mid-week tilt in Hartford with the Wolf Pack with a puck drop of 7:00 p.m. ET. Springfield then completes its first of two separate four-game road stretches when they fly north of the border to take on the St. John's IceCaps at 6:00 p.m. ET on Friday and Saturday.
