Thunderbirds Recall G Stevens from Manchester (ECHL)
Springfield, MA- The Springfield Thunderbirds announced on Thursday that they have recalled goaltender Colin Stevens from the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL.
The 23-year-old Stevens is in his second professional season, having spent time with both Manchester and the Tulsa Oilers in the ECHL. In 33 combined games with Tulsa and Manchester this season, Stevens has a record of 10-18-2.
Prior to beginning his pro career, Stevens played four seasons with Union College, capturing a national championship in 2013-14, thanks to a 28-4-2 record that featured sparkling .929 save percentage and 2.05 goals against average numbers. In the national championship game victory over Minnesota, Stevens defeated fellow Panther prospect Adam Wilcox.
The 6-foot-1-inch, 175-pound goaltender is a native of Niskayuna, N.Y., and he finished his collegiate career in his home state with 53 wins over 90 games.
The Thunderbirds are back on MassMutual Center ice for a pair of promotional extravaganzas on Friday and Saturday for Pucks N' Paws night vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on March 31 and Boomer's Bash/Bobblehead Night on April 1.
