Steve Ott was named the fifth head coach in Springfield Thunderbirds history on January 19, 2026.
Ott joined the St. Louis Blues organization as a player in the 2013-14 season and played 122 games with the organization. He signed on as an assistant coach in the summer of 2017, and was promoted to Associate Coach in June 2024. Ott played in 848 NHL games from 2002 to 2017, amassing 288 points and 1,555 penalty minutes.
Ott, 42, helped the Blues compile a 350-244-74 (.588 points-percentage) regular-season record and four appearances in the postseason. In 2018-19, just his second season as a coach, Ott played an instrumental role in helping the Blues make a historic rise in the standings during the regular season, ultimately capturing the 2019 Stanley Cup championship.
